Waxing Advice

Why Wax?
Many people find waxing is a far more beneficial choice for them than shaving. Rather than cutting off hair at a thick point and leaving rough stubble, waxing removes hair at the root and allows for a good wait period between new growth. This delay could be quite long depending on your body’s natural growth cycle!

To wax, we only need a minimum of ¼ of an inch of hair, which is approximately 2-3 weeks of growth. Each time you get waxed, discomfort decreases as the hairs will consistently come back weaker and thinner – and slower!

If you hate seeing spots appear as soon as you shave and can’t stand having to watch them quickly turn into overwhelming patches, you’ll love the relief waxing can bring.

Q: I love to tan, can I use a tanning bed before I wax?
A: We understand, we love a warm glow even in the winter, but you should refrain from sunning or tanning beds for at least 24 hours before and after your waxing appointment. The same goes for tanning outdoors.

Q: How long should I let my hair grow - I hate waiting!?
A: Hair must be ¼ of an inch long (or longer) to be waxed. That’s typically 2 to 3 weeks of growth.

Q: Can I do anything to make the hair magically disappear?
A: Unfortunately no, but if you exfoliate the areas that will be waxed 1 day before your appointment it softens the hair follicles and this helps with any discomfort.

Q: I'm embarrassed about all this hair, should I trim it first?
A: Don't worry about shaving or trimming the hair. Blush will take care of that for you.

Q: Any pre-waxing tips?
A: The skin needs to be dry and free of any moisturizing products. Also, Ibuprofen, Advil or similar anti-inflammatory medicines help relieve any discomfort during or after waxing.

Q: I'm using using a Rentin-A cream, does that make a difference?
A: Waxing cannot be done over areas where you are currently applying prescription strength AHAs/BHAs, Rentin-A/Renitol creams and Glycolic Acid.

Q: What benefits are there with waxing?
A: Waxing removes the hair at the root so the new hair grows in finer and softer. After repeated waxing cycles the hair eventually gets easier to remove.

Q: What happens if I forget post-waxing care?
A: No worries, after your appointment you will be provided with after-care information. And we're happy to answer any waxing questions!
